The Nordic SLD Network was initiated in 2025 with the aim to establish a Nordic platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange on steatotic liver disease (SLD), with the goal to:
- strengthen research networks
- increase participation in clinical trials
- raise awareness among healthcare professionals and the general public
Members of the network come from different backgrounds in academia, clinical hepatology or related specialties, patient representatives, industry partners and more. The network has a steering committee represented by all Nordic countries and includes:
- Professor Hannes Hagström, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden (chair)
- Professor Ulf Risérus, Uppsala University, Sweden (Lead of clinical trials)
- Senior Associate Professor Mattias Ekstedt, Linköping University, Sweden (Lead of SLD Platform for observational research)
- Associate Professor Emilia Hagman, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden (Lead of outreach group)
- Associate Professor Patrik Nasr, Linköping University, Sweden (Co-lead of SLD Platform for observational research)
- Professor Einar Björnsson, University of Iceland, Iceland (Member)
- Associate Professor Håvard Midgard, University of Oslo, Norway (Member)
- Professor Ville Männistö, University of Eastern Finland, Finland (Member)
- Associate Professor Nina Kimer, University of Copenhagen, Denmark (Member)
