The Nordic SLD Network was initiated in 2025 with the aim to establish a Nordic platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange on steatotic liver disease (SLD), with the goal to:
- strengthen research networks
- increase participation in clinical trials
- raise awareness among healthcare professionals and the general public
Members of the network come from different backgrounds in academia, clinical hepatology or related specialties, patient representatives, industry partners and more. The network has a steering committee represented by all Nordic countries and includes:

Working groups
Observational study group
Leader: Mattias Ekstedt
The group aims to establish a common clinical cohort for prospective observational studies in SLD.
Registry Study Group
Leaders: Peter Jepsen and Eivind Ness-Jensen
The group aims to conduct harmonized registry-based epidemiological studies in hepatology.
RCT Group
Leader: Ulf Riserius
The group aims to establish a platform to conduct randomized controlled trials in SLD.
Outreach Group
Leader: Amanda Finnberg-Kim
Our Outreach Group will raise awareness of steatotic liver disease across the Nordic countries by engaging the public, healthcare professionals and policymakers.
